A Communi(t)y Garden Open Mic
Thorne Malik., of Communi(t)y Garden, in partnership with Mutual Aid Hartford, invites poets, musicians, and other creatives to join us at Semilla Cafe + Studio and share work centered in WEATHERING & ENDURANCE, yet we welcome all performers with respect and consideration for the audience and community!
A Communi(t) Garden Open Mic is a space to be witnessed and to witness one another. Come to share, come to listen, come to be held—if only for a moment—as we continue finding ways to survive and soften together.
A Communi(t)y Garden Open Mic

As things continue to escalate on both the national and global scale with increased ICE raids and continued genocide in places like Gaza and Sudan, let us gather and ruminate on what it means to survive through such cold and harsh realities!

As summer winds down, now is the perfect time to start harvesting from our gardens. In this workshop, we’ll create our own flower presses using recycled hardcover books. Then, we’ll press flowers to preserve them for future use.
If you have your own flower garden, feel free to bring your own flowers to press. If you have your own special hardcover that you’d like to use, feel free to bring it.
All materials will be provided. BYOB.
